A Magic: the Gathering novel, AoA is the start of the new "Planeswalker" series of books, and was written specifically to provide a jumping-on point for new readers while still appealing to existing fans. You should require no real familiarity with the Magic setting to enjoy the book. :-)

If any of you were waiting for the paperback to buy Agents of Artifice, the paperback is now available for preorder, and should be shipping/on shelves in a week or so. :-)

So go. Buy. Enjoy a good novel. Pay my bills. ;-)

So WotC has put together a brief animated trailer for my Magic: the Gathering novel Agents of Artifice. :-D

Go to http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Default.aspx and scroll down a bit.

It's perhaps a tad melodramatic, but it's still really damn cool to see a trailer for a book I wrote. :-)

...and overall really likes it. :-)

He's got a few objections to my penchant for sarcastic characters--and I'm willing to concede that perhaps I do overdo it on occasion--but he seems to really like everything else about the book.

So I'll call this one a win. :-)

Wizards of the Coast is running a contest. Illustrate your favorite scene out of Agents of Artifice, and you could win one of several prizes, including a cash award of $2,000.

Figured I'd pass it along. :-)

Well, this is it. As of today (well, technically "tomorrow," but only for a few more minutes), Agents of Artifice is officially and legitimately on shelves and for sale. Obviously, this isn't my first writing credit, not even my first novel, but I'm incredibly stoked for all that. It's my first wide release novel, and my first fiction hardcover. Heck, it's even supposed to get endcap placement in some of the major bookstores. :-)

And yes, I may very well head down to the local Barnes & Noble just to see it. ;-)

That is all. ;-)

So I've just concluded my last official read-through of Agents of Artifice. (This is the Magic: the Gathering novel, the first in the new "Planeswalkers" series, that WotC is publishing next, uh, February I think.) I just need to send the galley back with a few last corrections, and then my part of the process (not counting any possible promotional stuff) is 100% done.

I'm actually very happy with it. It was not an easy book to write, and I was afraid that fact would show in the final product. (I'm a writer; therefore, I'm neurotic that way.) But having now read it again, at some distance, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, and I'm looking forward to February a great deal. :-)
