Getting back on the horse

So assuming all goes well, I'm starting a new campaign two weeks from today, a campaign tentatively titled "In Tooth and Claw" and, at least initially, making heavy use of the fey.

While I've been gaming regularly, this'll be my first time DMing in a few years, and my first time DMing 4E.

Obviously, I've gotten to know the system really well, given that I've been both playing it and writing for it. But if any of you who've been running it have discovered any quirks or difficulties that I might not have come across without specifically having DMed it, I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.

D&D gamer humor

It's probably a good thing that I have no skill with Photoshop or the like, because I've just found myself tempted to create a series of "lolth-cats"...

Gamers for Obama buttons!

(Bonus points, redeemable for nothing, to those who get the reference in the subject line.)

So, GenCon...

Tired as I am, it always feels like I didn't have nearly long enough to spend with the various people I wanted to spend time with. Of course, had it gone on any longer, I think I would literally have no feet left. (I have very flat feet, so GenCon is a very painful experience, even with gel insoles.)

And of course, this year I went into the Con with some disappointments--specifically, my canceled novels--already tainting my emotional state. But that said, I had a really fantastic time, possibly the best Con in at least a few years.

Consumerism!! )

And that, I think, is it in a not-so-small nutshell. I'm tired, and I'm horrified at how much this trip cost, but I think it was definitely worth every penny.
